In December, The Pantone Institute announced its 2019 Color of the Year, the hue the color experts believe will be front and center in home decor and fashion during the coming year. This year’s color of choice is Living Coral, which – according to Pantone – is a “vibrant, yet mellow hue that offers warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in a continually shifting environment. The nurturing color appears in natural surroundings while also representing the fusion of modern life and embodying the desire for playful expression.”

While Living Coral is not for the faint of heart, there are many subtle ways to incorporate this inviting hue into your home.

Small pops of Living Coral can brighten and energize a space without overwhelming it. As we head into 2018, and interior decorators are keeping their eyes on the latest color trends. Ultra Violet (the color, not the rays) was recently announced as Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year, and it’s already making inroads in fashion and home decor. According to Pantone, this “dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”

Brilliant violet isn’t the only hue you’ll be seeing lots of this year, however. Pantone’s TECH-nique palette is one of many bright and bold color schemes the color authority has selected for 2018.

Elmira Stove Works Embraces 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year

Every year Pantone predicts the future of design, fashion and home décor with its announcement of its bi-annual color report and annual Color of the Year. This year, the international color authority has done something new; it announced two Colors of the Year and we are ready for them!

As a leading manufacturer of premium, vintage-styled kitchen appliances, we have the ability for our retro-inspired products to be custom colored to match Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. Respectively, the nude pink and purple-blue hues were chosen to symbolize balance and tranquility.

Our Northstar collection is well-known for its curves and chrome representing “true-to-era” 1950s design characteristics. In order to parallel the new 2016 Colors of the Year, we use color-matching technology to provide corresponding shades to the sweet, sensible Rose Quartz and cool, subdued Serenity. According to the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eisenman, the two colors reveal the natural harmony between warm, intimate rose and delicate, paradisiacal blue.

Pantone + Elmira: Spring Forward in Style With These Colorful Appliances!

Every year, spring ushers in a fresh season of renewal. Flowers bloom, trees bud with new leaves and fashion reveals new trends. Every spring and fall, the international color authority Pantone® releases a seasonal color report that ultimately shapes the top trends throughout fashion and home decor.

This year’s report highlights a few colors that are strikingly similar to color options of our own Northstar collection and we couldn’t be happier to see how “on trend” our retro kitchen appliances have continued to be! We have to stop and think: given how long our Northstar “retro” colors have been popular… are they trendy or timeless??? We’d like to think the latter, or perhaps both!

When spring approaches, one of the first colors to come to mind is green. Lucite Green is “fresh and clarifying” with a “minty glow.” Our Northstar appliances in Mint Green bring spring’s soothing sentiment into your kitchen.

Unless you’ve been living under a muted-tone rock this year, you’ve seen the bright tangerine and orange accents gracing the front of every single home magazine. After all, this year’s Pantone Color of the Year is Tangerine Tango!

Prominent designers from Jonathan Adler to Hermès are going crazy for this hot hue because of its versatile warm color which keeps an interior citrusy in the spring, vibrant in the summer, reminiscent of crisp leaves in autumn, and warm and cozy during the winter. This chameleon color really is perfect for all four seasons.

Elmira’s Retro Style Finds a Fitting Home at Steam Whistle Brewing

Northstar Refrigerator Featured in the Prominent Toronto Brewery

Accentuating their retro appeal, Steam Whistle Brewing recently selected an Elmira Northstar fridge to feature in the popular Toronto, Canada brewery. With a name inspired by an icon of the 1950s working class, Steam Whistle has an affinity for retro style, from their brewery location to their delivery trucks. Elmira Stove Works has been manufacturing vintage-styled appliances in Canada since 1975 and the Elmira Northstar refrigerator was a fitting choice to store Steam Whistle Brewing’s pilsner.

Steam Whistle has always used antique fridges in its brewery, hoping to complete their retro brewery with a vintage refrigerator. However, the compressor systems in antique fridges were not up to date and the fridges were using far too much energy for eco-minded Steam Whistle Brewing. For this reason, Steam Whistle chose the Elmira Northstar.
