Swimming in a Sea of Color

In December, The Pantone Institute announced its 2019 Color of the Year, the hue the color experts believe will be front and center in home decor and fashion during the coming year. This year’s color of choice is Living Coral, which – according to Pantone – is a “vibrant, yet mellow hue that offers warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in a continually shifting environment. The nurturing color appears in natural surroundings while also representing the fusion of modern life and embodying the desire for playful expression.”

The Perfect Splash

While Living Coral is not for the faint of heart, there are many subtle ways to incorporate this inviting hue into your home.

Small pops of Living Coral can brighten and energize a space without overwhelming it. For example, consider adding a couple of throw pillows, candles, a throw blanket, or a piece of art in the sunny hue to infuse any room with an uplifting vibe. More adventurous spirits might opt to showcase the color in dining room chairs, a colorful side table or a painted accent wall.

Get Cooking

Another great place to bring in a pop of color is the kitchen. Lately, color has been making its way back into kitchens – from cabinetry to appliances and everything in between. Introducing small appliances, mugs and dinnerware in Living Coral is an easy upgrade that will deliver an extra dose of personality and charm.

Ready to make a bolder statement? Then, consider adding a retro fridge or range in Living Coral – or, even an entire suite of appliances. There’s no better way to bring new life to your kitchen!

The complete line of Elmira’s retro-styled Northstar appliances, including refrigerators, ranges, range hoods and splashbacks, microwaves and dishwashers, can be ordered in Living Coral as a custom option.

If Living Coral isn’t your cup of tea, the Northstar line is also offered in nine “not so standard” colors, including Candy Red, Robin’s Egg Blue, Mint Green, Buttercup Yellow, Tropical Blue, Black, White, Bisque and Quicksilver.

Ringing in the New Year – Vibrantly

As we head into 2018, and interior decorators are keeping their eyes on the latest color trends. Ultra Violet (the color, not the rays) was recently announced as Pantone’s 2018 Color of the Year, and it’s already making inroads in fashion and home decor. According to Pantone, this “dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”

Brilliant violet isn’t the only hue you’ll be seeing lots of this year, however. Pantone’s TECH-nique palette is one of many bright and bold color schemes the color authority has selected for 2018.

Color Your World

If you’re looking for an Ultra Fun way to spice up your kitchen, consider adding a color “pop” with a few accessories, or even a big bold “splash” of Ultra Violet with a full set of appliances.

Accessorize, Accessorize

Seeking a less expensive and less permanent way to incorporate the new Pantone Color of the Year? Lots of fun and quirky kitchen accessories are available, including this cool espresso machine and just about everything else you can imagine. If you prefer official flair, the Pantone website offers a wide array of items in Ultra Violet.

Be Bold.
Be Bolder!

If you’re all-in on color, Elmira offers a full range of appliances in virtually any color you can imagine, including Ultra Violet. “Go for bold” and create a style statement by pairing white cabinets with 1950s-inspired Northstar appliances in Ultra Violet.

Tie it all together with a matching splashback, microwave and dishwasher panel, and you’re ready to go. If you’re not quite that committed, maybe add one appliance – say a fridge or microwave – in violet and the rest in a neutral tone.

If violet isn’t your style, you can choose from a variety of “not-so-standard” colors, along with hundreds of custom colors to create your perfect look; for example, Northstar in Mint Green or Antique appliances in Liberty Blue.

Transforming your kitchen into a visually stunning masterpiece can be as temporary or permanent as you want. What better way to kick off 2018 in style than to incorporate a pop of eye-catching color!

Elmira Stove Works Embraces 2016 Pantone Colors of the Year

Every year Pantone predicts the future of design, fashion and home décor with its announcement of its bi-annual color report and annual Color of the Year. This year, the international color authority has done something new; it announced two Colors of the Year and we are ready for them!

Elmira Stove Works Model 1950 - PhotoAs a leading manufacturer of premium, vintage-styled kitchen appliances, we have the ability for our retro-inspired products to be custom colored to match Pantone’s 2016 Colors of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. Respectively, the nude pink and purple-blue hues were chosen to symbolize balance and tranquility.

Our Northstar collection is well-known for its curves and chrome representing “true-to-era” 1950s design characteristics. In order to parallel the new 2016 Colors of the Year, we use color-matching technology to provide corresponding shades to the sweet, sensible Rose Quartz and cool, subdued Serenity. According to the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute Leatrice Eisenman, the two colors reveal the natural harmony between warm, intimate rose and delicate, paradisiacal blue.

Elmira Stove Works Model 1956 - Photo“These colors will bring subtle, calming energy to kitchen spaces, whether incorporated into larger appliances such as a range and refrigerator, or as an accent color in a microwave,” says our vice-president of sales and marketing, Tony Dowling. “The custom RAL colors of Light Pink (RAL 3015) and Brilliant Blue (RAL 5007) align with the Pantone colors and are complementary to one another, while also blending well with other, varied palettes.”

In addition to the colors tailored to match the Colors of the Year, the Northstar collection can be customized to suit the other eight hues selected for Pantone’s Spring 2016 Color Report, as well as more than 200 other custom color options.

Pantone + Elmira: Spring Forward in Style With These Colorful Appliances!

Every year, spring ushers in a fresh season of renewal. Flowers bloom, trees bud with new leaves and fashion reveals new trends. Every spring and fall, the international color authority Pantone® releases a seasonal color report that ultimately shapes the top trends throughout fashion and home decor.

This year’s report highlights a few colors that are strikingly similar to color options of our own Northstar collection and we couldn’t be happier to see how “on trend” our retro kitchen appliances have continued to be! We have to stop and think: given how long our Northstar “retro” colors have been popular… are they trendy or timeless??? We’d like to think the latter, or perhaps both!

photo 1 - greenWhen spring approaches, one of the first colors to come to mind is green. Lucite Green is “fresh and clarifying” with a “minty glow.” Our Northstar appliances in Mint Green bring spring’s soothing sentiment into your kitchen.

Time to welcome the yellow warmth of the sun and spring flowers. Infuse your home with perpetual joy and cheer with our Buttercup Yellow Northstar appliances. Alongside sweet, comforting kitchen accessories in Pantone’s Custard hue, your kitchen will put a smile on your family and guests’ faces.

photo 3 - pinkJust like the many pink flowers blossoming this season, Strawberry Ice is a “subtle and charming” nod to the song “Think Pink” from the 1957 classic Paris springtime movie starring Audrey Hepburn, “Funny Face.” Channel Audrey and “think Flamingo Pink” this spring with our 1950s Northstar appliances!

photo 4 - blueSpring’s beautiful, blue skies have a tough time competing with Scuba Blue’s vibrant ode to your favorite tropical beach! You can create your kitchen oasis with our Robin’s Egg Blue Northstar appliances, similar to this family’s beach home.

photo 5 - grayFor a more masculine option, Glacier Gray is an ideal neutral that allows any (or all!) of the above colors to pop and shine in your kitchen. Our Quicksilver Northstar appliances are “stain-least” due to their ability to resist streaking, marking and fingerprints. Spring cleaning just got easier!

These are just a few of the options available for our Northstar appliances, but we can also create custom colors that will perfectly suit your kitchen design dreams!

Un-Mute Your Kitchen

Unless you’ve been living under a muted-tone rock this year, you’ve seen the bright tangerine and orange accents gracing the front of every single home magazine. After all, this year’s Pantone Color of the Year is Tangerine Tango!

Prominent designers from Jonathan Adler to Hermès are going crazy for this hot hue because of its versatile warm color which keeps an interior citrusy in the spring, vibrant in the summer, reminiscent of crisp leaves in autumn, and warm and cozy during the winter. This chameleon color really is perfect for all four seasons.

This refreshing tone can be paired with a variety of colors. Tangerine makes a great accent when paired with white, cream, blue, brown or grey. Some of the most popular pairings among interior designers this year have been tangerine with khaki and off-white, tangerine with blue (robin’s egg, turquoise or navy) and off-white, tangerine with brown and cream, and tangerine with jewel tones.

Orange Northstar Refrigerator by Elmira

Maybe you aren’t quite ready to bring such a bold statement into your kitchen, and that is perfectly understandable. Add a pop of color to your kitchen with some orange place settings, hand towels, or a vase of orange hued flowers.
Give your kitchen even more personality this year with a customizable Northstar refrigerator from Elmira. Whether you like to accent with bold colored appliances, or limit the vibrant colors to your kitchen accessories, Elmira provides you custom color options for every personality. Each order is custom made just for you.Use the color as a way to highlight the areas of your kitchen (or other rooms of your home) that you want noticed. This gives you an accent that isn’t overwhelming, but adds something warm and welcoming to the existing pieces in your home. Adding hued pillows to a couch or cushions to your kitchen chairs gives a room a pop without overpowering.
